Aid projects

The PFF congregation currently supports 3 charity projects: The ARCHE, the Christian children and youth aid project here in Berlin, in particular the house in Potsdam; HaitiCare e.V. which has been founded and supported by the Kaasch family for many years; the Jenny de la Torre Foundation, a health centre for homeless in Berlin-Mitte.

News from the aid project „Die Arche“ (The Arch)

For children (aged 6 through 14), the Arche in Potsdam is looking for all kinds of nice little things for their treasure box: marbles, pencils, key chains, pearls, knights, toy cars, little toys etc. – in other words, everything that puts a smile on a child’s face. The children can take a treasure out of the treasure box every now and again! If you have found something, please turn it in at the PFF office. Thank you very much! Information on the Arche can be found on the PFF-website and online at www.kinderprojekt-arche.de.
Claudia and Debby are also happy to answer your questions.

If you have questions please contact Claudia or Debby from the congregation or call the Arche itself: 0331 64 74 65 20.

Money donations for the Arche in Potsdam are welcome at the PFF-office.

Here is some general information about the Arch/Potsdam, which you can also find laid out at our church:

We welcome every child!

At the Arch, children have the possibility to discover and experience community in a new way, disregarding their social background, their heritage or their religion.

Every child is special and loved by God and has been made wonderfully! With the building of fundamental relationships and friendships we want to make this worthwhile. As trustworthy points of contact we wish to give support and advice to children and their families in all living circumstances.

We wish to cooperate with parents, families, teachers and other establishments, in order to meet daily challenges together.

Because we can succeed a lot as a community…“

The Christian Children and Youth Relief Organisation “Die Arche” in Berlin-Hellersdorf, was founded by Pastor Bernd Siggelkow in 1995.

Since then, the Arch offers special care for Germany’s children and considers its goal to openly approach the deficits in our society, in order for children to step back into its centre.

The work of the Arch is based on the denomination of the German Evangelist Alliance and finances itself solely by donations.

Meanwhile there are establishments at five locations in Germany, where over a thousand children are being cared for. “

How can we support the Arch in Potsdam?

On December 18, 2009, a small Christmas market will be held in front of the Arch building. If you have the time and would like to learn more about the Arch Potsdam, just come on out from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.

We will continue to support the Arch in Potsdam and collect money for their special projects, which they appreciate very much! There are two donation boxes in the office of the PFF-Church for the Arch, in which you can place your donations at all times.

Mr. Valdorf, the educational leader of the Arch in Potsdam always welcomes „readers“. They are continuously looking for men and women, who are willing to read to the children at the Arch or even help them in their own reading efforts. If you would like to lend your help, simply call the Arch!

Haiti Care is a small nonprofit organization, which strives for the improvement of the living situations of children in Haiti.

Since 1992 the founders Barbara und Michael Kaasch from Berlin are collecting donations for Haiti. The administrative expenses are paid for by the founders, so that every donation goes to 100% to the people in Haiti.

25 years ago Mr. and Mrs. Kaasch supported their godchild Natascha in Haiti. Today this young woman presides over Haiti Care on site., and she is the principal of the school MEVA – La Maison des Enfants du Village de l`Avenir. The house of kids in the village of hope.

200 kids and their families are part of MEVA and are cared for by Haiti Care.

Because of the earth quake in January 2010, the house was totally destroyed. Since then Haiti Care is working on the reconstruction, regardless the running of the school continues. The provision of numerous families affected by the earth quake was assured by Haiti Care.

The aim of Haiti Care is it to make the people in Haiti independent from external help. Through the advancement of the children in their own Montessori school, through the opportunity of vocational training in the sewing – and computer school and through academic training in teaching and gardening, the people get a prospect for the future.

Haiti Care creates jobs on site, like employees for the copy shop, teachers and child care providers, cooks, cleaning personnel, janitors, gardeners and helpers.

For 1 Euro a day a person can be sponsored. If you are interested, please contact Claudia or Debby

In the Jenny de la Torre Foundation, homeless people are medically treated and cared for. Here’s the link to the Web Site www.delatorre-stiftung.de

Homelessness in Berlin is a social problem. More than 10.000 people are living without a permanent home in the capital city. The state of health of homeless people is deteriorating from day to day dramatically. The consequences are serious mental and physical illness besides progressive social isolation and exclusion. Since 1994, Doctor Jenny De la Torre treats homeless people and poor people without health insurance. In the beginning she treated in a small practice near Ostbahnhof. In December 2002 the Jenny De la Torre-Foundation was established in Berlin and on September 6, 2006 the health center for homeless in Berlin-Mitte was opened, where she treats approximately 30 people a day. The center, a project of the foundation, is financed solely by donations. The purpose of the foundation is the assistance in public health care as well as charitable purposes: the support of people in Berlin, who get caught in distress, without respect of persons, the reintegration of people without a permanent home.
In addition to the medical treatment, the social, psychological and legal care, the center provides breakfast, a warm lunch and free clothing.
